Granite District

It is official I have accepted my first teaching job.  I will be a 4th and 3rd grade science teacher at Rosecrest Elementary.  I am lucky I found a job mid year so easily.   I am going to to start a month before I graduate.  My school gave the approval.  I am so excited to get a paycheck again.

4th graders scare me and so does science but I always like a good challenge.

Top of Utah Marathon

Today I did the Top of Utah Marathon and I was in a very dark place.  I have had a cold all week so my ears were clogged the whole time, which made me not want to eat anything while running.  Not to mention that is usually an issue for me already since I cramp my jaw when I am running.  (Yes, my face has to look ridiculous when I run). My first half was awesome, I did it in 1:46 then I just choked at mile 19 and had no desire to run anymore.  I ended up getting 3:59:42 which is not my best but not my worst.  I had great support along the way, Bob, Mom and Blake.  Bob and Mom have had a tough week and so I thank them for coming to cheer me on.  Love you both!!!

LOTOJA

This past weekend I went and saw Blake ride LOTOJA.  It was my first major bike race experience and he did awesome.  He did the two man relay and they won their division and made a course record. It was fun to watch him get so excited.  Congrats Blake!!!

Pat's Wedding

This past week my little brother Patrick got married.  You would think I would be traumatized that my little brother got married before me but they have dated for 9 years so I had time to prepare for this day. The whole week was so fun to be with family and friends.  Being one of the older singles in my family and bringing a boy to the wedding I got a lot of questions that people should just not ask.  When I am getting married I will tell you.  Here are some things people said to us this week:
  • What are your intentions?
  • Is he going to be in the family photos?
  • My grandfather telling Blake he could come propose at his house
  • He then asked Blake his middle name so he can pray for him until he does it

Kauai

As a pre-notion I know you all are probably thinking Katelyn has lost it, she is posting photos of a boy. I am all about jinxing my life and hopefully by posting these photos that does not happen.  I am trying to maintain faith that eventually it will be my turn to have good things happen.

In May I went to Kauai for my 30th birthday.  It started as a joke about me going, I invited myself on Blake's family trip.  But then I ended up really going.  The trip was amazing, Kauai is so beautiful.  Here are some highlights:
  • Turned 30
  • Went on a helicopter ride
    • Saw the Jurassic Park Waterfall
    • Circle Rainbow (It's true they exist)
    • Had to announce my weight to everyone for the helicopter ride (Not awesome!)
  • Snorkeled - saw lots of sea turtles
  • Saw dolphins from the catamaran
  • First Luau - Fire Dancers
  • Swam in warm and blue water
  • Hiked to a beach only accessible by foot (was super muddy so fell a couple of times)
  • Saw a beautiful sunset (well the last 30 seconds of it)
  • Kayaked to Secret Falls.  I had to actually paddle the whole time because I was in the front of the boat
  • Spent 9 days with Blake and didn't even get sick of him
    • This trip was a true test and we passed :)
    • Blake's family could not have been more gracious to have me crash their family trip
  • Got up at 6 everyday to go on a run along the beach
    • This was huge because being the psycho I am I was afraid I was not going to get my runs in
    • This allowed me to not have to pretend like I was asleep until everyone woke up

Napa

This past week we went to Napa for the week.  We did lots of things Alcatraz, Bodega Bay, Muir Woods, Giants Game, and much more.  It was an awesome trip thanks mom, Bob and Blake!!
